The Project

Two Trees consists of an architecturally designed house with a detached garage, four guest pavilions and a reception building that will operate as a luxury lodge. The stunning 900sqm home designed by JT Design Architecture Ltd is situated on a large site overlooking Lake Taupo.

PROJECT REQUIREMENT

This new home build required both a tanking and roofing solution. The project was multifaceted and required a range of different roofing solutions across both trafficable and non-trafficable areas as well as multiple different substrates. Two Trees had a below ground pool bunker that required a comprehensive tanking solution.

ALLCO SOLUTION

Allco provided comprehensive tanking and above ground waterproofing solutions for this project. The pool bunker was tanked using Swelltite, providing a watertight solution.

Allco ALLTHERM Warm Roof was installed on the main house, while JM TPO Cold Roof was installed on the property garage. Upon consultation with the Allco TA Team, the JM TPO membrane was also chosen for the decks.

Warm roofs provide significant thermal advantages creating thermal efficiencies and keeping the house warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The Allco ALLTHERM Warm Roof solution was installed on the second story roof with JM TPO chosen as the waterproofing layer. Following the completion of waterproofing, 36 solar panels were fitted, providing the house with even greater energy efficiency.

The garage had a plywood substrate on which the JM TPO Cold Roof was installed. Cold Roof build ups allow for insulation to be placed within the roof cavity itself meaning the insulation can be installed at a later date.

On the decks of the main house, the JM Fleece Backed membrane was placed over a concrete substrate with decking placed on top as the overlay.

Given the scale of the project the owners chose to install an International Leak Detection System, which provides owners with greater security and peace of mind. Once construction was completed, Haimes Building was able to run a test to ensure that no breaches in the membrane had occurred after it was installed.

The Allco TA Team carried out several onsite visits and consulted on the project from start to finish, this was a “very well managed project by the main contractor/applicator” – Allco TA Team.
