Is Your Tanking Solution Holding You Back?
When it comes to tanking, the design, planning, and selection of the right membrane are crucial to ensuring the long-term success of any construction project. Mistakes can lead to costly rework, water ingress, and potentially long-term structural damage.
Allco’s Volclay range is unbeatable when it comes to addressing tankings most common issues such as protection, weather conditions, project delays, speed of installation, and ultimately the cost.
Weather resilience – Volclay range can be installed in nearly all weather, including rainy days. This adaptability can significantly reduce weather-related project delays. In contrast, a rainstorm can bring the application of bitumen membranes to a halt, creating a domino effect of setbacks throughout the construction schedule.
Project schedule – Weather resilience is a major advantage, but the Volclay range also addresses another critical issue: the pressure to stay on schedule. In some cases, bitumen membranes are installed in less-than-ideal conditions – on damp walls, for example – which can compromise their integrity, leading to membrane failure, water ingress, and expensive remediation work.
Speed of installation – Another key benefit of the Volclay range is the speed of installation. A single skilled applicator can cover up to 400+ m² of Voltex or 200 m² of Swelltite per day, helping contractors stay ahead of schedule. On average, this can cut project timelines by 2-3 weeks, allowing for more efficient use of labor and other resources.
Time savings – Saving the project time goes beyond the speed of installation. The Volclay system can be applied to damp substrates, eliminating the need to wait 28 days for the concrete to cure, as required by other systems. This drastically reduces downtime and accelerates project completion. Additionally, priming is not required, saving both time and material costs. Volclay membranes can be applied directly onto compacted slab substrates without needing site concrete, and in some cases, the formwork can be skipped entirely. For projects using precast elements, Volclay can be pre-applied in the precast yard, increasing construction efficiency and allowing work to proceed faster once elements arrive on-site. This flexibility provides an edge in projects where coordination and timing are paramount.
True waterproofing protection – While below-ground bitumen membranes provide a barrier against moisture and vapor, preventing dampness from rising into a building’s structure, our Volclay range is designed to resist water ingress entirely, forming a robust shield that prevents water penetration, offering a more comprehensive and durable waterproofing solution than bitumen membranes.
Allco Volclay range not only helps eliminate weather-related delays, but its efficient installation methods help your project get out of the ground faster than any other membrane resulting in significant time and cost savings, but above all ensuring a high-quality, reliable, and long-lasting protection against water ingress.
