Project Details
Project Name: Harewood Underpass
Applicator: Absolute Waterproofing
Products Used: Volclay product range
Completed: June 2016
The Project
Based in Christchurch, near International Airport precinct the Harewood Underpass is an 80m long enclosed section under the roundabout intersection of Russley and Harewood Road.
Project Requirement
Developed to provide safe passage to pedestrians and cyclists, the project waterproofing was a critical element to ensure the durability of the newly built infrastructure long term and to provide special protection and integrity for the façade panels and architectural coating.
Allco Solution
Allco’s Volclay tanking range was chosen as the ideal the system for the project, with Voltex used on the slab and Swelltite and Aquadrain on the walls and roof.
The ability of the Volclay range to form a tenacious mechanical bond to concrete and the high-swelling and self-sealing properties of sodium bentonite ensures both passive and active barriers to water ingress. Aquadrain was used to further enhance the waterproofing system by collecting and transporting water away from the structure to drainage discharge pipes.
The application of these membranes was skilfully completed by Allco approved applicator Absolute Waterproofing Solutions and we are thrilled with the result.
